Kadbak Vodka is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between two visionary distillers and two remarkable stills, bridging the volcanic highlands of Jalisco with the creative heart of Portland’s Central Eastside. This limited-edition vodka began as Blue Weber agave grown for seven years under the intense sun at 5,314 feet above sea level. Harvested and distilled in Jalisco by second-generation tequilero Rodrigo Cedano using wild yeast, the tequila is crafted using traditional techniques.
In Summer 2025, Rodrigo’s tequila made the journey north to New Deal Distillery, where founder Tom Burkleaux re-distilled it on New Deal’s 22-plate vodka column still, with help from Rodrigo. The result is a spirit that is elegant and velvety, but never neutral to the point of forgetting its roots. The aroma is delicate and floral, with layered notes of citrus peel, fresh agave, and a gentle peppery lift. The palate is clean and balanced, with just enough flavor to intrigue—soft agave nectar, a whisper of rose, and a snap of black pepper. It has a rich and silky mouthfeel, with a smooth entry and a finish that tingles with lively heat and vegetal brightness. This is vodka with a soul.
Why “Kadbak”?
A nod to the collaborative spirit of this bi-national experiment, Kadbak is a name rooted in camaraderie, creativity, and curiosity. It represents not just a meeting of ingredients and stills, but of philosophies—where traditional tequila-making meets the craft vodka ethos.

Rule Breaker Cedano Recipe
In a shaker tin, muddle lemon slices with simple syrup. Add vodka and ice to the tin and stir to incorporate. Add fresh ice to an Old Fashioned glass, then strain the mixture into the glass. Add two dashes orange bitters and garnish with a lemon wheel.
