2021 was a hot vintage in the Willamette Valley, but this wine is fresh as a daisy. It shows juicy cherry on the nose along with deeper & more complex floral & spice cake characteristics. The palate repeats the cherry fruit on a delicate frame, while the substantive tannins hold on for a nice long finish. This pinot shows black pepper at the mid-palate & refined minerality on the finish.
The fruit fermented in open-topped bins, with no additions other than moderate SO2 at bottling. Cool fermentation temperatures ensured gentle extraction. 11 months in neutral French oak, racked once, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
